Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has revealed how he will handle says his predecessor Adams Oshiomhole if he continues his attack.
According to him, he would have no choice but to show his predecessor Adams Oshiomhole “no mercy”.
News Xtra recalls that Obaseki was re-elected for a second term on Saturday in a battle many considered was between him and Oshiomhole despite the latter not being a candidate in the election.
In a virtual appearance on Tuesday on Arise TV, Obaseki said although he had no plans concerning how to handle Oshiomhole, he would respond if the ex-governor comes after him again.
“I don’t have any plan, but if he continues to behave the way he always does, if he continues to be disruptive, if he continues to fund his lions and tigers, and tries to create problems for us here, then we will not have any mercy,” he said.
The courts stopped Obaseki and his administration severally from effecting arrest on Oshiomhole before the Edo polls over claims of financial impropriety.
On the role played in the election by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu, Obaseki said: “The challenge with people like Oshiomhole and Ahmed Tinubu is that if they do not accept and change their style and attitude, they pose a big danger to our democracy because they are extra-constitutional players.
“They constituted themselves into what they say they are without any constitutional responsibilities and try to overlord themselves over people who have constitutional authority and if we allow them to continue it will destroy our democracy.”
Obaseki said he would go back to school on the expiration of his tenure.
“After the next four years, I’ll seek admission and go back to school to teach. I don’t have any wishes to go to the Senate,” he said.
