Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government has declared October 1 as a public holiday.
This is for Nigerians to mark the country’s 60th Independence anniversary.
In a statement released, Aregbesola congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of the country’s 60th independence anniversary and reiterated the government’s commitment to the socio-economic transformation of the country.
The minister praised Nigerians, saying their talent grit and passion glitter like the precious diamond. He said the 60th independence calls for pomp and ceremony, saying however that the global pandemic would make the celebration low key.
Aregbesola wished Nigerians a fruitful independence celebration and preached unity.
He said Nigeria’s founding fathers came together for the country’s independence regardless of religious or tribal differences.
The minister further urged Nigerians to support the present government in its quest for a better Nigeria for all citizens. He said together, we must make Nigeria great.
